More fully, The Whole Booke of Psalmes with their wonted tunes as they are sung in churches, composed in to foure parts…compiled by sundry authors; an Anglo-Genevan collection published by Thomas Est(e) or East(e), b at Swavesey nr Cambridge, c1540; d London 1609. 3 tunes are still in use, including one which was omitted from subsequent edns, losing its Psalm connection but later becoming an all-time Christmas favourite. The book formed the foundation of Ravenscroft’s Psalter of 1621, qv. No.379.
