b Arnstadt, Thuringia, central Germany 1804, d Munich (or Bonn?), Germany 1876. After achieving a doctorate in philosophy he lived in Berlin from 1843 to 1847, when he moved to Munich where he remained. He edited a book of 4-part tunes in 1846 and a Choralbuch for church and home, 1847, to accompany the work of his friend Baron von Bunsen. Together with Ludwig Christian Erk he also compiled in 1845 a collection of the 16th- and 17th-c chorale masters. 3 of his tunes are in CH, 2 of them being used 3 times. Numbers 421*, 1236*
