b Newcastle upon Tyne 1952. Bedlington Grammar Sch, Northumberland, and W Midlands Coll of Education, Walsall (now part of Birmingham Univ). He taught in middle schools in the NE until 1980, when he spent a year in Bible School in Bradford, Yorks (ICLP, now the Covenant Coll in the E Midlands). He returned to teaching in 1981, then in 1984 began as a full-time worship-leader, songwriter and trainer, continuing in these roles at Leicester from 1991. From 1999 to 2003 he worked with the New Covenant Church in St Louis, Missouri, USA, returning to join the staff of the Leicester Christian Fellowship where he currently l(2007) leads a worship-team of 40. He also runs a ‘School of Worship’, as he had in the USA, in partnership with Covenant College. His writing of praise songs began around 1980; he has written and composed some 200 items. His work came into wider view in the UK via MP (6 in the 1997 edn), the Spring Harvest series and similar books; Pete Ward called him (in 2005) ‘Harvestime’s leading praise artist’. No.499.
