Served churches in Philadelphia, Long Beach (California) and Los Angeles. Army chaplain in France and Germany, then with Episcopal City Mission, Philadelphia, until retirement 1954. Also chaplain to prison, school and hospital. Had no musical training until adulthood, when he studied harmony, learned the cello, and played in a community orchestra. No.39.
