and step into the limelight
as darkness grips the town?
Yes, God is with his people
who dare do something new,
with courage to accomplish
what no-one else can do.

2. Can God be with the sisters
preparing costly spice,
to sweeten bitter moments
of loss and sacrifice?
Yes, God is with his people
who lovingly press on
with gifts of special fragrance,
when hope has nearly gone.

3. Can God be with disciples
who take the time to rest,
who learn to wait in patience
when quietness is best?
Yes, God is with his people
who make his word their choice,
and in the sabbath stillness
are open to his voice.

4. Can God be with the doubters
who run to check the grave,
whose minds are full of questions
before an empty cave?
Yes, God is with his people,
and will not turn away
the ones who greet the morning
of resurrection-day.
