As we come before you to pray

As we come before you to pray
we feel our sins will make you turn away,
yet we long to know that we have been forgiven
and your smile is resting on your church again.

2. All our hearts to you are known;
in the righteousness of Christ we trust alone,
for in purity and power your glory shines
and we need the pardon that his wounds supply.

For God so loved the world he gave
his only Son that he might die.
Believing in him we shall find eternal life.
Your mercy gives us hope and light
from heaven above in this dark day
through Christ who takes our guilt and care away.

3. In our weakness seeking your face
we will find forgiveness only in your grace.
So we ask you Lord, our King in heaven above
to revive our hearts in joy and light and love.
