Cast your burden on the Lord

Cast your burden on the Lord,
only lean upon his word;
you will soon have cause to bless
his eternal faithfulness.

2. He sustains you by his hand;
he enables you to stand;
those whom Jesus once has loved
from his grace are never moved.

3. Human schemes will often fail,
but God’s wisdom must prevail;
his compassion, love and power
are the same for evermore.

4. Heaven and earth may pass away,
God’s free grace shall not decay;
he has promised to fulfil
all the pleasure of his will.

5. Jesus, guardian of your flock,
be our stronghold and our rock!
So when evil comes, we stand
shielded by your powerful hand.
