To you, O Lord, I lift my soul

To you, O Lord, I lift my soul—
don’t let some scoffer win the day:
I trust in you to take control
and show me evermore your way.

2. Remember still your love of old
and not the times I’ve gone astray;
I look to you as days unfold
to show me evermore your way.

3. For there is no one good like you,
the guide of all who will obey:
direct me in the path that’s true
and show me evermore your way.

4. Forgive my many sins, dear Lord,
and with your people let me stay
where you will teach me from your word
and show me evermore your way.

5. Since you have claimed me for your own
I beg you, save me from dismay!
Apart from you I’m all alone—
Lord, show me evermore your way.

6. Because you are my hiding-place
my God, I look to you and pray:
redeem your people from disgrace
to walk for ever in your way!
