b Todmorden, Yorks 1856, d Dumfries, D and Galloway, Scotland 1929. After study in London and gaining a doctorate, he spent most of his life in Lancs where he was organist successively of 3 churches; briefly in Morecambe and Southport and a longer spell at Christ Ch Preston. He retired first to Southport, where he served on the Town Council, and then to Blackpool. Another of his interests was the cinema and film industry. No.855.
