b Warwick 1833, d St Marylebone, London 1915. Chorister at Leamington Parish Ch, Warwicks; organist at Leamington Chapel aged 14. Held several other organ posts, in London from 1862, the longest being at St Mark’s Hamilton Terrace 1874–1909. Composer of songs, nursery rhymes (1870), operettas, anthems and hymn tunes; assisted Arthur Sullivan on Church Hymns 1874. Nos.47=462=634, 677=901.
