Love was outpoured
- 1022
Love was outpoured in the blood that was shed:
Jesus my Lord, Jesus my love;
broken his body, disfigured his head;
Jesus my Lord above.
Once, on the cross
once, in the tomb,
once, the day he was raised.
Now and for ever, Love of all loves,
Jesus be praised, Jesus be praised,
Jesus be praised, be praised.
2. We were redeemed by the blood that was shed:
Jesus my Lord, Jesus my love;
ransomed, delivered, alive from the dead;
seated with him above.
Nailed to his cross,
buried with Christ,
risen the day he was raised.
Now and for ever, Life of our lives,
Jesus be praised, Jesus be praised,
Jesus be praised, be praised.
3. Love in our place was once broken and bled:
Jesus my Lord, Jesus my love;
substitute, willing to die in our stead,
Jesus my Lord above.
Ours was the sin,
his were the nails,
all condemnation erased.
Now and for ever, Lamb on the throne,
Jesus be praised, Jesus be praised,
Jesus be praised, be praised.
Jesus be praised, be praised.
