OVER TWO THOUSAND YEARS AGO,
under a starlit sky,
many events were taking place
as the ancients had prophesied.

And a gift was given from heaven to earth,
the everlasting light.
So let us adore the Saviour born,
Immanuel, here tonight.

2 Heavenly hosts of angels,
praising God on high,
sang of the promised child to come,
the Saviour Jesus Christ.

3 Darkness was over Bethlehem,
brightly the star did shine,
showing the way to where he lay
in a manger for all to find.

4 Never before in history
had there been such a sign,
for God was born in human form
for the sake of all mankind.

Johnson, Mark and Helen

When Mark and Helen were married in 1988, they both had a keen interest in music. Helen had completed a degree course in English at Leicester University, followed by a PGCE at Froebel College, Roehampton University. She worked as a primary school teacher for a number of years specialising both in English and Music. Mark and Helen left their jobs to set up ‘Out Of The Ark Music’ in the 1990’s, becoming both its directors and principle songwriters. ‘Out Of The Ark’ is unique in its ability to make their Christian songs available in mainstream education. The richness, diversity and relevance of their songs is proving to be popular in over two-thirds of Primary Schools in the UK. Their songs have also featured on Radio and TV, such as CBBies and Songs Of Praise. They have also written for charities such as Comic Relief, Wateraid and the Girl Guides. Mark and Helen have three children and live in Surrey.
