Praise our Father, Lord of Harvest
- 1090
Praise our father, Lord of harvest,
for providing us with food;
thank him for the fruit provided,
all we eat that’s for our good.
Praise him! Praise him!
Praise him! Praise him!
May we praise him as we should.
2. Praise to Jesus Christ our Saviour,
for the love to us he shows;
he who came to earth to save us,
suffered, died—and then arose!
Praise him! Praise him!
Praise him! Praise him!
All our daily needs he knows.
3. Praise to God the Holy Spirit,
he who shows us how we need
the forgiveness of the Saviour,
that from sin we may be freed.
Praise him! Praise him!
Praise him! Praise him!
Lord, today our spirits feed.
4. Praise the Father, Son and Spirit!
Thank you, Lord, for all you give:
harvest fruits, your love and kindness,
gracious gifts that we receive.
Jesus, Saviour,
help us trust you,
so at last in heaven we’ll live.

The story behind the hymn
For some years I produced the weekly ‘service sheet’ for Pantiles church. Just to fill in a spare page, I wrote some verses for the back page on harvest-time. Our Pastor asked if we could sing the hymn at the evening harvest service and it has been sung at several of our harvest services since.
