Who has planned the journey?
- 1036
Who has planned the journey for life that lies ahead?
Who has made the pathway for every step I tread?
Who has seen a future that no one else can see?
Only the Creator of all that I will be.
Greater are the plans of him who sees it all,
who knows my heart, who holds my days.
His thoughts are not my thoughts, his ways are not my ways.
Greater, much greater are his plans.
2. Who can give the reasons for all that’s in the past?
Who can know the answers to questions not yet asked?
Who can keep, in safety, the days ordained for me?
Only the Creator of all that I will be.
Greater are the plans…
3. Who will give life’s picture its colours and design?
Who will make the sorrows and joys to intertwine?
Who will weave the pattern designed in secrecy?
Only the Creator of all that I will be.
Greater are the plans…
4. This is my Creator, my times are in his hands;
I will walk the pathway surrendered to his plans.
He will walk beside me until this life is done,
he who made and loves me, my Lord, the faithful one.
Greater are the plans…

Greater are the plans Composer: - Hare, Susie
The story behind the hymn
In 2003 the hymn writer was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Such news would be devastating to anyone, but was particularly catastrophic for Susie Hare who was a professional pianist. She composed this song as an expression of how she came to terms with her disease and learnt to trust God for the future.
