Whom have I in heaven but you?
- Psalms 73
- 1010
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire beside you.
My heart and my body may fail and pass away,
but God is the strength of my heart,
my portion for ever.
I know that you’re always with me,
you hold me secure by my hand,
you guide and protect me,
I know that my future is planned.
Whom have I in heaven…

The story behind the hymn
Carolyn is prompted to compose texts and music when she least expects it. This song is one such example of a piece written in this way. She began it while invigilating an exam and reworked it at a later date, adding harmonic accompaniment to her basic melody and refining the poetry of her lyrics.
